Pinterest Tag Setup Guide
This article describes how to set up the Pinterest Tag tag in your Tealium iQ Tag Management account.
The Pinterest tag allows advertisers to track specific actions, or events, on any pages on their websites. With the Pinterest tag, the advertisers can also attach customized event data on those events to gather detailed information on visitors’ behaviors on the websites. Then the advertisers can later use the information to refine their audiences for ad campaigns on Pinterest.

Tag tips
- Includes support for “Enhanced Match” when you map to the “Email Address” parameter
- Conversion fires when Order ID is set.

Tag configuration
Navigate to the Tag Marketplace to add a new tag. Read the Tag Overview article for general instructions on how to add a tag.
When adding the tag, configure the following settings:
- Pinterest Tag ID
- Your Pinterest Tag ID.
- Your Pinterest Tag ID is different from any existing or previous conversion tag IDs.
- Generate Event ID
- Automatically generate an Event ID for every Pinterest tracking event. The default is
True
- Automatically generate an Event ID for every Pinterest tracking event. The default is
- Auto Page Visit Event
- When set to true, automatically generates Page Visit events. The default is true. When Auto Page Visit Event is set to true, do not map the PageVisit event variable.
Load rules
Load the tag on all pages or set conditions for when your tag will load. For more information about load rules, see the Load Rules documentation.
Recommended Rule: Create a custom Rule to load it on the page(s) where you want to track specific actions, events, and conversions.
Data mappings
Mapping is the process of sending data from a data layer variable to the corresponding destination variable of the vendor tag. For instructions on how to map a variable to a tag destination, see Data Mappings.

E-Commerce
Since the Pinterest Tag is e-commerce enabled, it will automatically use the default E-Commerce Extension mappings. Manually mapping in this category is generally not needed unless you want to override any Extension mappings or your desired e-commerce variable is not offered in the extension.

Events
Map to these destinations for triggering events when your specified trigger value is found on the page.
Checkout event is automatically triggered if an order id value is available on the page.

Here’s how to map an event:
- Select an event from the drop-down list.
You can choose from the pre-defined list or create a custom event. - For Custom event, enter a name with which to identify it.
- In the Trigger field, enter the value of the variable you are mapping to this destination.
When the value is found, the event triggers on the page. - To map more events, click the plus (+) button and repeat Steps #1 and #2.
- Click Apply.
When you are done mapping, perform a save and publish. That’s it! You have successfully set up the Tag in your profile.
